Online Pornography: The Terrible Virus

Many people can agree that online pornography becomes a big problem. It spreads like a virus. There are currently over 100,000 pornographic Web sites accessible for free and another 400,000 for pay sites. Disturbingly, unlike pornographic magazines, movies, and adult book stores, online pornography is readily accessible to children. Without even searching it out, pornographic material is present in pop-up ads, bulletin boards, chat rooms, and aside of internet news. There are several things wrong with online pornography to children.

First of all, online pornography is harmful to children's innocent mind. Also, it is too lurid to accept it. These suggestive pictures and video paralyzes people's frontal lobe which supervise originality and inspiration. If these things percolate in mind, it will stop people from developing themselves. Until adolescence, children make basic values and views in their mind. So, online pornography can exert a bad influence on children.

Secondly, Pornography paralyzes children's reason and it can be incredibly addictive. Once children learn sexual things, they become curious about it and try to find more provocative media. Worst of all, some of children would like to try it in reality. For example, there was one boy who really liked to watch pornography through the net. After few years, he could not bear his desire, he committed serious sexual crimes. That time he was freshly 20 year-old. It is an actual occurrence in my hometown.

Lastly, online pornography is easily accessible to children. Without even searching it out, Pornography material is present in anywhere on the net such as pop-up ads, e-mails, bulletin boards and chat rooms. Controlling of online pornography is extremely difficult because Internet is made as users can easily access the data that they want. There are no significant barriers to children to access online pornography.

In conclusion, since the World Wide Web emerged in the early-1990s, pornography has become increasingly prevalent online. Besides, the number of sexual assault cases is increasing and the sex offender is sometimes teenagers who are influenced by online pornography. It is a growing problem for society. So, I think the government needs to come up with some proper countermeasures.
